Keeping Your Child's Care Going Through an EFMP PCS

How to protect therapies, IEPs and specialists when EFMP families move — the continuity plan the system doesn't hand you.

  • Therapies (ABA, speech, OT/PT), specialists and school IEPs all reset with a move — plan the rebuild before you leave.
  • TRICARE network changes can sever existing providers; confirm in-network care exists at the gaining location first.
  • Request records, current IEP, and provider summaries early so the new team starts where the old one left off.
  • Use the special-needs consultation to line up resources at the new installation before you arrive.

Frequently asked

Will EFMP stop me from getting assigned somewhere without care?

That's the point of EFMP — to factor your family's needs into assignments. It's not perfect, so confirm services exist at the gaining location and build a continuity plan early.
